Baby Mobility 101: Foundations & Reflexes (0-4 mos)
Class Experience
Welcome to your baby's first movement class! Led by Nana Sue, Baby Mobility 101 gently guides parents and infants through the essential early milestones, focusing on movement in positions on the sides, back, and tummy. This class demystifies early motor development, helping you understand your baby's primitive reflexes and how they serve as the building blocks for their first motor skills.
Developmental Goals
- Proud Shoulders: Techniques to achieve a stable tummy time position with lifted chest and open shoulders (the key 3-month milestone).
- Stable Laying: Techniques to help your baby lay comfortably on their side, back, and tummy without tension.
- Midline Orientation: Exercises that encourage bringing hands together and feet together.
- Visual Tracking: Helping your baby look comfortably to the left and right to prevent flat spots and tight necks.
Baby Mobility 102: Core Strength & Rolling (4-7 mos)
Class Experience
As your baby becomes more alert, Baby Mobility 102 focuses on the active discovery of the core. At this stage, movement is all about shifting weight. Nana Sue guides this group through exercises that help babies discover how to symmetrically ground themselves in their core muscles on each side of the spine—a critical step before they can master rolling or sitting. This class focuses on teaching your little one how to transfer weight from side to side, unlocking the ability to reach for toys and preparing the body for the bigger movements of rolling, sitting and crawling.
Developmental Goals
- Core Activation: Helping your baby discover and strengthen the muscles on each side of the spine and building a strong core.
- Shifting Weight: Learning to shift body weight from side to side to free up a hand for reaching, the secret ingredient to rolling over.
- The Art of Rolling: Techniques to encourage smooth rolling from back-to-belly and belly-to-back.
Baby Mobility 103: Sitting & Dynamic Transitions (7-12 mos)
Class Experience
As your baby starts exploring the world more upright, Baby Mobility 103 supports the dynamic transition into sitting and independent movement. Nana Sue guides parents and babies through the mechanics of sitting and dynamically transitioning from key positions (sitting to crawling positions, pivoting on the floor, and purposefully rolling from back to belly and belly to back). At this stage, the focus shifts to "dynamic transitional fluency"—not just holding a pose, but moving fluidly in and out of it, with an overarching emphasis on symmetry, ensuring mobility develops equally well on both sides of the body.
Developmental Goals
- Dynamic Sitting: Moving beyond static balance to actively pivoting to the left and right while seated on the floor.
- Floor Play: Pivoting on the floor and purposeful, controlled rolling from back to stomach and stomach to back.
- Transitional Positions: Exploring the essential "in-between" milestones, such as the side-sit and side-lie, that connect movement patterns.
